Welcome to Wollongong, NSW.

Our conference will be held at the beautiful University of Wollongong, located in the coastal city of Wollongong, New South Wales, approximately 80 kilometres south of Sydney, along the Grand Pacific Drive. Surfing beaches and rock pools line the coastline. Trails encircle the forests and rocky cliffs of Mt. Keira in the Illawarra mountain range, which frames the city. To the north, hang gliders launch from Bald Hill. South lie the Buddhist temple of Nan Tien and Lake Illawarra, a large lagoon with boating and fishing facilities.

A map of the campus of the University of Wollongong is available here.

There are several transport options to reach the University of Wollogong (UoW).

The UoW campus is accessible. All conference venues are on the ground floor.
The UoW campus can be reached in a number of ways:

  • By free shuttle bus from the main city of Wollongong to the campus

  • By carpooling with three or more people, which will entitle you to free parking on campus

  • Wollongong Campus is a short ride away from Wollongong CBD

  • North Wollongong Station is about a 20 minute walk from the campus

  • There are parking options for visitors, using the CelloPark app or the ticket machines. Usually, car parks are in high demand, however December should be a quieter month for the University

Wollongong is 85 minutes by train from Sydney Airport. North Wollongong Station, on the South Coast Line, is the closest station to the University.

Unfortunately, Transport NSW has planned works on the South Coast Line during Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 December (the weekend before the start of the conference). While the train will not run in certain areas from Sydney to Wollongong, there will be replacement buses (so travelling will still be possible):

  • Saturday, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong, and between Dapto and Waterfall.

  • Sunday, buses replace trains between Bomaderry, Kiama and Wollongong.
